Join the South West committee for a day trip to Lundy to explore the terrestrial, marine and avian wildlife of this special island.

About the leader

Simon Dell MBE is one of the most sought-after public speakers in Devon with talks on a range of themes from his vast historical knowledge of Dartmoor, Lundy and local policing. Simon is one of the Lundy Ambassadors and has been guiding on Lundy for about 20 years having been visiting the island since the 1960s.

He is also a keen walking guide giving fellow walkers a greater understanding of the environment around them by bringing each and every walk alive.

During the visit, Simon will be assisted by Richard Ware, another Lundy Ambassador who has been guiding on Lundy for over 10 years. The Ambassadors were formed about 8 years ago to provide guides to visit schools and community groups to provide educational talks and also to guide on walks around the island.

Event information

Everyone will meet Simon at 8.00am at Bideford Quayside for boarding at 8.30am and 9.00am departure. Sailing aboard the German built MS Oldenburg for the 2-hour sail to the Island.

En route Simon will divide everyone into different groups for the day. We shall arrange to all meet for lunch at a specific venue and hopefully watch the puffins.

After lunch we shall rejoin our groups for further explorations on the Island before the return sailing.

Returning at 9.00pm into Bideford.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the activity and weather.
