New President, and Council and committee members elected
Congratulations to our new President and our newest Council and committee members who were elected at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday.鈥�
The Society's new President is Professor Dame Jane Francis.
Our new Council members are:
- Alan Parkinson - Vice President, Education
- David Wood - Councillor, Professional Practice
- Clare Hadley - Councillor, Membership
As newly elected Trustees, they join the听, our board of Trustees who are responsible for the Society鈥檚 governance and meet four times per year.听
The Trustees who retired at this year's AGM are:
- Nigel Clifford - President
- Lynda Chalker - Immediate Past-President
- Melanie Norman - Vice President 鈥� Education
- Vandana Desai - Councillor鈥� Research and Higher Education听
- Narinder Mann - Councillor鈥� Education听
- Helen Walkington - Councillor听鈥� Expeditions and Fieldwork

The new committee members are:
- Jenny Pickerill - Research and Higher Education Committee
- Patricia Noxolo - Chair of Annual Conference 2025, Research and Higher Education Committee

Voices from the Global South: Open access learning resources launched as part of new collaborative initiative
The Society has partnered with The Open University and the International Geographical Union on a new initiative, Voices from the Global South, which seeks to amplify voices often overlooked in global discussions, foster understanding and inspire action to combat climate change.
